The Anundoram Borooah Award Scheme is named in honor of Late Anundoram Borooah, who was the 4th Indian (and the 1st Assamese) to join the prestigious Indian Civil Service (ICS) and the first Indian to be appointed as Deputy Commissioner.

Details of ARBAS Laptop Award Scheme:
Until the year 2019, all eligible students of the Anundoram Borooah Laptop Award Scheme received a laptop computer along with a 2-year 3G/4G Internet Connection Subscription. Additionally, they were awarded a certificate and books on all subjects in PDF format, as per the NCERT course. The students also received digital content in the form of 2D/3D animations, audio/video materials, and access to an Online Coaching and Score Improvement System (OLCSIS) for Science students.

However, in the year 2020, due to the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the supply chain for procuring laptop computers was severely affected. As a result, instead of providing laptops, the government awarded Rs. 20,000/- (Twenty Thousand Rupees) to the eligible students. This decision was made considering the challenges in the availability and distribution of laptops during that time.
For the current year, the government has decided to transfer Rs. 16,000/- (Sixteen Thousand Rupees) directly to the bank accounts of all eligible students. This monetary assistance aims to support the students in their educational pursuits and provide them with the flexibility to utilize the funds as per their requirements.
Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible to submit an application for the Anundoram Borooah Award Scheme, students must meet the following educational qualification and percentage criteria:- Educational Qualification & Percentage: Students who have secured Star Marks or 75% or more in the following examinations conducted by the Secondary Education Board of Assam (SEBA) and the State Madrassa Education Board, Assam are eligible:
- High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination
- Higher Madrassa Examination
- FM (Fine Mechanics) Examination
- Year of Passing: Students must have passed their qualifying examination in the year 2023.
- Examination Board: Only students who have passed their qualifying examination from SEBA and the State Madrassa Education Board, Assam are eligible to submit an application for this scheme.
